Lucasfilm and Disney have finally released a new trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu.
This is the first full trailer for the film released since the brief teaser trailer last September. And while this footage still doesn’t reveal too much, it certainly gives us a clearer idea of what to expect from Din Djarin and Grogu’s next big adventure, including the live-action debut of a character from The Clone Wars.
What do we see in the new trailer?
Highlights of the trailer include Din Djarin without his helmet in various situations and a glimpse of the clash between Din and Rotta the Hutt, the character voiced by Jeremy Allen White in the original version.
This trailer also gave us our first look at the Hutt twins, whom we met in The Book of Boba Fett and who had already appeared in the poster revealed in September.
The general plot details are largely being kept under wraps, although we have enough information to make a good assessment of the story. We know that Sigourney Weaver’s character, Sergeant Ward, entrusts Din and Grogu with a mission in the Outer Rim, during which they will meet Rotta the Hutt. And it now seems confirmed that the Shadow Council from the third season of The Mandalorian will play a role in the film.
Who is that mysterious character from The Clone Wars?
As we can see, at one point in the trailer, Embo also appears, a bounty hunter who had already made his debut in the franchise by appearing in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
A year ago, rumors spread that Embo would be the main villain of the film, and now we at least have confirmation that he will be part of the story. The rest of the trailer takes us back to the atmosphere that made The Mandalorian series a success, namely a mix of adventure and tenderness that are cornerstones of the saga.

When will The Mandalorian & Grogu be released in theaters?
The film will be released in US theaters on Memorial Day weekend, May 22, while in Italy it will arrive a little earlier, on May 20. The film is directed by Jon Favreau, written by Favreau and Dave Filoni, and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Favreau, Filoni, and Ian Bryce.
The protagonists are Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, Sigourney Weaver as Sergeant Ward, Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, and Jonny Coyne as an as-yet-unnamed Imperial warlord. Ludwig Göransson composed the film’s soundtrack, after having written the theme for the Disney+ series.
