The production schedule for Ram Charan‘s rural drama ‘Peddi‘ has had its final touches. Director Buchi Babu Sana has actually moved the release date of his other film to April 30 – instead of trying to squeeze it in late March, he found a bit of breathing room. The production team is about to embark on a gruelling 40 day shoot, a real marathon, as they try to wrap principal photography before the summer heat sets in.
Peddi is presenting itself as a genuine rural epic – think authentic and down to earth. It’s the kind of film that really puts its focus on performances and that all comes down to the characters. With just a small amount of CGI to worry about, editor Karthika Srinivas can get on with shaping the film in the edit suite from the footage shot on location – and she’s looking to finish it off by late April. Charan plans to put in a huge amount of time on set – nearly 30 of his 40 days are going to be spent working on that all important second-act scene because it covers decades of story and that’s a big ask.
The fact that Peddi is coming out on April 30 is big. Distributors are going to start discussing the rights as it’s coming out in the Telugu states – they need to get all that sorted before the big film releases mid May and that would be a real problem. Meanwhile, A R Rahman the composer is still working on his second single, which should drop in late February to really get the promotional ball rolling. To keep to their summer release date, the production team went all out with a tight 10 week turnaround from wrap to release and are now working flat out on post-production at the same time.
